Margules Groome is a leading advisor and consultant to the forestry and agriculture industries. Our clients include the largest forest managers and investors globally, government agencies, and leading NGO’s.

Margules Groome is looking to employ a GIS Analyst/Forester into their global team.

The successful applicant will be part of a team of management consultants working globally across a broad range of forestry, land use, and wood processing projects including forest valuation and due diligence, resource assessment, performance improvement, climate change strategies, feasibility studies, and market analysis. The position is likely to involve travel.

This exciting opportunity is ideally suited to a forestry or spatial science professional looking to develop their skills and challenge themselves across a wide range of projects. The successful applicant will be measured on their qualifications, experience, and key personal attributes of intuition, teamwork, time management, and organisational capabilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • A professional degree in forest science, natural resource management, spatial science, or similar qualification from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Relevant post-graduate qualifications would be an advantage.

Preferred Skills / Knowledge:

  • Sound understanding of the Australasian and/or other forestry sectors.
  • Proven GIS skills (ArcGIS and/or QGIS) with experience in forest mapping.
  • Remote sensing experience.
  • Python and or R scripting skills.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills in English.
  • Some experience with commonly used forestry applications is an advantage (e.g. ArcGIS or QGIS, YTGen, Woodstock, Tigermoth, etc).
  • Understanding financial modelling is also an advantage.

Experience:

Work experience in the forest, wood products, or related industries is preferred. Job title and remuneration will reflect the experience of the successful applicant.
